It's Official - Daddy's Post

Two interesting things from the embassy:

1 - Not long after we got there, Pablo leaned over to me and said "You want to know something awkward?" He then proceeded to point out the attorney that started our adoption with Karla (we'll just call him "A") was there completing an adoption with another family. I asked how he was still doing adoptions because he was bankrupt. Pablo said that he's seen A recently at the PGN and at the embassy but wasn't sure who he was working with because last he'd heard no agency would work with him. Jennifer and I kinda "hrrmped" at that and then forgot about it. Hilariously though, about an hour later Karla encountered A while trying to run through all the people in line. She stopped right in front of him and he very kindly said "Hola!". Karla then said "Oh" and then scrunched up her face at him making her "yucky" face and said "ya ya ya" and then walked quickly away. It was SOOOOO hard not to die laughing.

2 - Jennifer got to vote from the embassy today, which was pretty cool. We had filed for absentee ballots in PA but they hadn't arrived before Jennifer left for Guatemala City. I mailed mine just before I left. Today while we were waiting to be called into the closet we discovered someone next to us was filling out the "Federal Absentee Write-In Ballot". She told us that if you ask at the window, they'll give you one, you fill it out and give it back in a provided sealed envelope. The ballot is then sent back to the US in the diplomatic bag free of charge. So that was an interesting experience.

I don't know how you do it! But keep doing it. You both are doing so well - what a team. Karla will eventually know what a great thing you have done for her, and how much "fun" it was.

Can't wait to see you.

Love, Dad N.
