Easter pictures

This look was inspired by the royal wedding last week. We DVRd it because I knew I'd want to see the dress, etc. and I knew Karla would too! She loved it!! Talked about it a lot that day. This look is the crown-with-veil-in-back look....just like Kate.

I have slacked off with blogging. Thought I'd at least give you some pictures from Easter to hold you over until I actually finish one of my blog post drafts. Click here.

No more...

NO MORE BREATHING TREATMENTS FOR KARLA!! We went to the allergist/asthma doctor on Friday. Karla got tested for allergies and is not allergic to anything that she was tested for! Great news! The doctor also said that she could start using an inhaler with a spacer rather than her nebulizer! This means that rather than 10+ minutes of using her nebulizer (breathing treatment machine) every night and cleaning the pieces everyday, she now gets two puffs from her inhaler twice a day. That's about 1 minute in the morning, 1 minute at night! After more than 2 years of the nebulizer this is exciting! I was even excited about having more space on her dresser. I pretty much came home, took the nebulizer off her dresser and packed it up. I didn't put it too far away just in case she were to have an asthma attack or get a bad cold.

Our friends from Guatemala are visiting some other local friends. We got to see them last week and hopefully will see them again this week before they head back. Seeing them always makes us want to go back and visit Guatemala.

Last week Karla got her pictures taken for Easter. They are so cute!! I can't wait to get them later this week.

Karla is getting ready for Easter. She is learning all about why we celebrate Easter...which has led to some interesting questions and discussion. :) Last night she prayed "God, I am really sad that you died on the cross. But I know you did it for all the sins we ever do." I thought that was pretty "grown up" for her, especially since we hadn't talked about it just prior to praying.

She has also had an egg hunt with her friends Aidan and Aaron as well as another hunt at church.

Karla and Aidan were cozy in the chair eating their candy. Aaron was searching for more chocolate.

Lazy Afternoon

This afternoon I didn't feel like doing anything. I had plenty I could do but didn't want to do any of it.

Instead Karla and I had a great afternoon together building a tent and then playing in it for a couple hours. It was fun. We ate a snack in it, we played Go Fish in it, we played "house," and we pretended to be hiding from a giant which required whispering for quite a while. Karla has never really played with baby dolls (just used her stuffed animals as babies) but she used a baby doll in the tent today as my little sister. Karla was the mom. :) Oso was the baby's toy. It was nice that she wanted to play something "different" today. I started to take the camera out but Karla was adamant that there were not to be any pictures of the tent. I decided not to spoil our nice time together.

Jason had a meeting tonight so after dinner Karla and I made No-Bake Cookies. After we spooned them on to some wax paper to set, we each got a spoon and ate a couple of warm cookies. Karla was on my lap and it was just a relaxing time together. It made me think of when I used to do the same thing with those cookies with my mom! Grandma will be happy to find out Karla likes No-Bake cookies too!

I am thankful for afternoons like these!

Wristers

One of my favorite things to do is crochet. In the fall I decided to make myself some wristers. The pattern I used was tedious and it took me a few months to get these things completed. Karla knew I had been working on them and I was very excited when I finished them. So then she decided she wanted wristers. I was going to make her pink ones to match her coats but she said "No, I want ones just like yours." I knew I didn't want to ever use the same pattern I had used again so I found another EASY pattern and adjusted it a little to fit her sweet little hands. It was much easier, went faster, and I think they look better. Maybe the pattern I had was not for varigated yarns...I don't know. If I make these again I will use the pattern I used for her wristers. So, now we proudly wear our wristers together. :) I finally remembered to have Jason take our picture in them today.

Fishing

At the end of last July we went to our friends' lake house and Karla went fishing for the first time. I FORGOT my camera! I just remembered recently to ask one of our friends for the pictures. Thankfully they had taken pictures for me. :) Karla LOVED fishing. She is already talking about going this summer. She stayed with the men who were fishing on the dock the whole time. The other kids and women had gone back to the house. Karla stayed with her Daddy fishing until it was time to go in!

In these pictures she doesn't look too excited...but she caught several (one or two less than the man who caught the most). With each fish she got happier and gained more confidence. This must have been one of the first fish.

I'm happy to have these pictures because it is a good memory for the 3 of us.
