Barbie

We walked in to ToysRUs and Karla gasped. I was wondering what on earth was wrong when I looked where she was staring with her eyes and mouth wide open. This is what we saw! It was a huge Barbie display. She had to look at everything Barbie before we could go look for the gift we had gone in for. It was fun.

This picture is from a few weeks ago. Her friend Elaina has encouraged Karla to be more interested in drawing specific things. One day Karla drew this for me. I loved it so much I took a picture of it. It is her first family drawing...and we are all holding hands...awww!

Been a while

For some reason it seems that we have been busier since preschool has started this fall. More "running" I guess. Karla also has more friends, which means more playmates and playdates. She has been getting together with one little girl from church most Tuesdays. It is really nice because they play so well together. This past week they played for 2 hours without needing or wanting me in any way - so it was awesome for me too! I got some baking done.

Karla has been to a few more preschoolers birthday parties, helped put together some boxes for Operation Christmas Child, celebrated Thanksgiving, AND she had her very first sleepover.

Karla has never spent the night away from both Jason and I at the same time and we really did not know how she would do. She went to Tia Beth's and Tio Eric's house with her three cousins the Saturday after Thanksgiving. She had a great time! They ate tacos (Karla's request) at 9pm, had a dance party, played Barbie's, watched a Barbie movie, and who knows what else! I was very relieved that she did so well. Jason and I did fine too, by the way. :) It helped that Beth sent me a picture text about 3 times that evening before I went to bed. I could see that Karla was having fun. Karla fell asleep right after telling Aunt Beth she wasn't tired...and she literally dropped. Half her body on the ottoman, half on the couch. Beth had to move her to the bed.

Karla had been congested for quite a few weeks and is wasn't feeling like herself. She said a few cute but sad things during this time. One day she came into the kitchen where I was and had a mad look on her face, crossed her arms and said, "I just did something bad. I drew a heart with a line through it because I feel grouchy!" Then she apologized and started crying. Later, I went in and took a picture of the heart.

Another thing she said to me that was also both sad and funny was "Mommy, I feel blue. Really, really blue. I just feel DARK blue!" Never heard anyone say that before but it makes sense! This week she seems to be better than the past few with how she is feeling so I am very thankful! I don't want a dark blue girl!

These pictures are from way back in October when Karla's violin came in the mail. She was pretty excited.

Here are pictures from trick-or-treating that I meant to post and never did. This is Karla with her friend Josiah and his little brother. It was fun having other kids to walk around with that night. They just walked, talked, and sang all around the neighborhood. Very cute!

These last two are from when we went to the circus at the beginning of November to celebrate our 3rd anniversary of Karla being home.

Happy 5th Birthday, Karla!

Today is Karla's fifth birthday. I really can't believe it. Maybe I am in denial. She is just getting so big and the time has gone so fast!

Karla started her day by having brunch out with Daddy.

Then in the afternoon she got to open her presents from Mommy and Daddy. She played with her new toys all afternoon! Then she went to dance class. Jason and I got to go too since it was "parent observation week."

Then we came home and had dinner with Grammy and Pap-Pap, followed by cake, ice cream, and more presents!

Mommy and Daddy may have gone a little overboard:

Happily playing with her new Barbie dollhouse.
